Alchemy email header

Our Alchemy Festival is quickly approaching and there is still a chance to get involved.  Alchemy is our annual festival here at Southbank Centre celebrating the best of contemporary art and culture from South Asia, specifically India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Sri Lanka, and the UK.

For the fifth year running Alchemy will see Southbank Centre transformed into a space with brand new installations, talks and debates and of course performances from a range of artists.

How to get involved:

•        Are you 15 – 21 years old and interested in the arts?

•        Would you like to get involved in at project a Southbank Centre?

•        Do you want to work alongside other young people and create something new?

We are looking for young people to get involved and become Alchemists. You would have the opportunity to learn a number of skills, while working alongside other young people and artists. You’ll get to come to shows and experience exciting new art here at Southbank Centre.

The project would include:

– Working on creating a new exhibition with the Citizens Archive of Pakistan

-Documenting the festival: we need young people to capture, tweet and blog about shows that they come to during Alchemy

– Working alongside our resident Alchemy DJ you would be responsible for manning the decks and welcoming visitors to our hub

– As an Alchemist you would work alongside artists to support a new creative projects

– Experience of running a show in the Royal Festival Hall

– Working with young musicians from Afghanistan National Institute of Music.

If you are interested in learning more about the Festival please get in touch. You don’t need to have been involved with any previous projects at Southbank Centre. Our next meeting is Wednesday 7 May (5-7.30pm) and there are a few places left!
