We’re working with Jaybird Live Literature to plan a large scale poetry commissioning project for Summer and Autumn 2013.
Southbank Centre and Jaybird are looking for poets – one from each London borough – to write a poem about or inspired by their borough. We’re also looking for artists to work with texts to create innovative installations whether they are theatrical, visual, digital or otherwise.
‘If you can project a giant poem in light up the side of a wall, if you can make a poem grow in moss graffiti, if you can send a poem in morse code to search for extra terrestrial life (or similar!) we’d like to hear from you.’ – Jaybird
You can find out more about the project and how to recommend a poet or artist on the Jaybird website.
Recommendations must be received by 18th February…so get thinking!

Re Jaybird-poetry at Southbank.
I am a professional clarinettist and would love to be involved. I could play (as a soloist or collaborating with a composer or other artists such as my groups 11collective or W3 Reed Trio) perhaps improvising to the words, or creating a new piece.

Let me know!
Like you I would love to particpate- not sure anyone from Southbank will ever get in touch with us- might have to develop our own breakaway Fringebank!
Hi Elaine, sorry for the late reply! The place to look for contact info is Jaybird: http://www.jaybird.org.uk/ – underneath their blog post there is a ‘How to Reccommend’ section with a contact email address. Good luck, let us know how you get on. Gemma.

This looks like fascinating project. Does the poet have to live in a London Borough now? I was born in Lee Green SE12 for the majority of my life and now live in Kent. I have been a published poet since 1970
